Keibul Lamjao

In accordance with a ruling of the Supreme Court, Forest Department together with Revenue Department have started a demarcation exercise of the Keibul Lamja National Park from three directions.
Keibul Lamjao was declared as a National Park having an area of 40 square kilometres in March 1977 .
The demarcation is aimed at checking whether the original area is still there or whether there is any encroachment.
The demarcation exercise led by three Range Officers of the Forest Department and also participated by staff of Revenue Department was launched with police protection.
GPS coordinates of the park's different spots were collected during the demarcation exercise.
In the course of the exercise, six religious structures, a few community halls and some dwelling houses were discovered at Keibul Chingmei inside the park area.
