Cocaine worth Rs 8 crores seized, 2 held

Imphal, August 25 2014:
In one of the largest seizures of its kind, the troops of Red Shield Division apprehended two civilians along with 1.550kg of cocaine from Tuibong RM 1938 area in Churachandpur district on August 20.According to a delayed statement issued by PRO Defene Wing, Imphal in connection with the seizure, based on specific input received from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) that a consignment of 1.550kg of cocaine addressed in the names of one Paouln Simte & Khaijapau is coming in Tuibong area, troops of Red Shield Division immediately launched a joint operation at 03:00PM with the personnel from the NCB.
On reaching the suspected location, swift actions by the party resulted in the apprehension of Paolun Simte, 58 years old, son of Late Kama Simte, resident of D Phailian and Khaijapau, 65 years old, son of Late Zinglian, resident of Thingkangphai, Churachandpur.
A total of 1.550kg of cocaine worth approximately Rs 8 Crores was seizesd, the PRO added.
