Imphal, August 25 2014:
The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union, informed all its members that in view of the current fuel scarcity in the State, the Union has made arrangements to provide petrol to all the working journalists at Singjamei NRL oil pump at Waikhom Leikai on August 26 from 7 am onwards.
Members are requested take their allotted quota personally by obtaining coupons from the standing committee members of the Union at the fuel outlet, according to statement issued by the General Secretary of AMWJU.
The Union also condemned the incident where a State CID personnel impersonating as a journalist disturbed a Press Conference called by the JCILPS in Manipur on August 24 .
Stating that the incident amounts to attacking the moral and ethical grounds enjoyed by the PRESS as well as infringing on the rights and privileges of the journalists, the Union appealed to the agencies and authority concerned not to indulge in activities that will tarnish the image of free and objective PRESS in the State.
The union urged the State Home Department Authority not to deploy CID personnel permanently at the Manipur Press Club premises which is currently being done as it pollutes the image of free Press.
