Abducted three drivers rescued

Imphal, September 19 2013:
The three drivers from Assam who were abducted by armed cadres of Kuki Revolutionary Front (KRF), which is a signatory to the Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Central and the State Government, from near Keithelmanbi along NH-2, have been rescued by a police team jointly led by DIG (Range IV) Dr S Ibocha and SP of Senapati Md.Isaac Shah this morning.
The three drivers were on their way from Guwahati with two newly bought excavators to be handed over to one Keisham Binod of Patsoi Part I, when they were stopped by heavily armed cadres of KNF near Keithelmanbi and abducted them along with the excavator on Tuesday last.

The news of the abduction along with the two excavators was conveyed to the Senapati Police only yesterday.
Subsequently, under the supervision of ADGP (LO) M Khoute and IG (LO-III) Pachauo, a team of police led jointly by DIG (Range IV) Dr S Ibocha and SP of Senapati Md Isaac Shah conductive a massive search operation in and around Keithelmanbi and Kalapahar area.
During the course of the search operation, the team found the two excavators being parked at Keithelmanbi village.
The top police officials in the team then informed the officials of KRF that the team would be carrying out operation in the area even though it is a breach of SoO ground rules.
Consequently, the three drivers were released by KRF unharmed at around 8:30 am today.
According to police source, KRF had demanded Rs 15 lakhs for the release of the three drivers along with the two excavators.
However, following the timely intervention of the police, the three drivers along with the two excavators were rescued unharmed.
The three drivers who were released today were Rosdhan Khan, s/o Mustafa; Ramesh Raj, s/o Rajen Raj and second driver Anand Nahak, s/o Bir Shah.
