Abducted drivers rescued at Sapermeina

Police have successfully rescued two drivers and a helper who were abducted by suspected cadres of KRF along with an excavator.
Significantly, KRF is a signatory of SoO pact.
The excavator was being brought to Imphal by two drivers namely Ramesh and Lal, and their assistant Anand from Dimapur when the cadres hijacked the excavator apart from abducting the two drivers and their assistant in between Sapermaina and Motbung at around half past noon of September 17 .
In order to rescue the abducted people and recover the excavator, a police team led by DIG Range IV S Ibomcha conducted extensive search operations in Sapermaina area under the supervision ADG LM Khoute
this morning.

In the course of the search operation, the police team found the abducted drivers and assistant together with the excavator at N Songlun village at around 9.30 am, about 3 Kms South of Sapermaina police station.
According to a police source, the excavator belongs to KBS brick field proprietor Keisam Birjit and it was hijacked by KRF for a monetary demand of Rs 15 lakh.
The two drivers and their assistant have been handed over to Keisam Birjit.
However, the excavator has been placed in Sekmai police station.
A source said that the drivers could be rescued due to the co-ordination put into place under the direction of the DGP.
