Imphal, February 04 2009:
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today expressed unhappiness over seeing the pace of construction works for the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) .
He said, the state cabinet will discuss and decide to dissolve the Technical Promotional (TP) Cell, which is taking a major share of the construction works of the JNIMS.
Health Minister Ph Parijat, Works Minister K Ranjit, Chairman of PDA, MLA Kh Loken, Director of Health Services, Dr Motilal and other officials accompanied the Chief Minister on today's inspection visit.

The Chief Minister personally inspected the newly constructed Opthalmology Department, Anatomy, Physiology and Bio-Chemistry Departments, Trauma Centre, etc.
On finding the quality of the works not being maintained, the Chief Minister was apparently unsatisfied and expressed the same to the officials of TP Cell.
Ibobi said that instead of giving the works to someone who can not take responsibility for constructing infrastructure that would remain for the future generations, it is better to give the job to somebody like the PWD with which responsibility can be fixed.
He said, the TP Cell which is taking a major share of the construction works for JNIMS is competent.
No such big responsibility would ever be given to the TP Cell.
"We need someone who has the equipments, the technical know-how, who can work properly and who would not have to wait for release of bills.
If the TP Cell carries on with the construction, there will be no quality.
When some problem arises, they all would run away, and the government will be blamed for it".
He said, it would be better to hand over the job to a competent agency like the PWD.
The government is hoping that the construction of JNIMS would be completed this month.
