Imphal, November 02 2011:
All Manipur Students Guardians' Organisation (AMSGO) has threatened to socially boycott the Principal of DM College of Science and impose curfew to prevent him from entering the college, if he fails to admit students against the vacant seats lying consequent to surrendering of seats for admission in the Ist semester of B Sc by some students who left for studies outside the state.
The Organisation has also charged the Principal with taking advantage of the non-government account of the college and appointing many staffs illegally.
Among the appointed staffs, there are not only six members of the same family but one person has been given appointment in three different posts, the AMSGO alleged.
Addressing a press conference at its Palace Compound office here today, Advisor of AMSGO N Tomba pointed out that for the current academic year, 2011, there are 70 seats still lying vacant for admission to Ist semester of B Sc in DM College Science after the selected students surrendered their respective seats and left for study outside the state.
Accordingly, the Organisation approached the Principal for allowing admission of 65 students against these 70 vacant seats well in advance.
However, the Principal did not give the permission and now the last date of admission has expired.
Tomba informed that the 65 students in question are in possession of necessary documents related to surrender of the seats by those who left the college for study outside the state and they have sat for the admission test.
At the request of the Organisation, Manipur University even extended the last date for admission till October 25 to ensure the admission of these 65 students.
But the Principal has deliberately declined permission for admission to them, he lamented, while questioning whether the Principal has any hidden agenda behind his deliberate refusal to grant new admission.
If the 65 students were not granted admission within a week's time, the Organisation would be constraint to announce social boycott of the Principal and impose curfew to prevent the Principal from entering the college, and in case of necessity, the Organisation would take recourse to necessary legal assistance to seek justice for the 65 students.
Furthermore, Tomba alleged that the Principal has been misusing his power and appointing as many as 30 staffs illegally by taking advantage of the non-government account of the college.
Among the staffs appointed by the Principal, there is one Tomba Kabui, who has been given appointment in three different posts, namely Chowkidar, Grade-IV and Sweeper.
Moreover, six members from a same family have also been given appointed.
They are Asem Birjit, Asem Ibochouba, Asem Ongbi Mema, Asem Ongbi Shila, Asem Bose and Asem Penao, the AMSGO Advisor disclosed.
He also drew the attention of the government and civil organizations over the activities of the Principal.
