Kut celebrated at Litan, Tuila

Kut festival was celebrated at Litan Sareikhong with Ukhrul MLA Danny Shaiza as the chief guest with much fanfare and cultural sojourn yesterday.
Kuki Innpi (Ukl) President Kamthang Haokip and VA member Helson Touthang were the guest of honour and president of the function respectively.
Danny in his speech said that the simplicity and honesty are the trademark characters of the Kukis.
The MLA also expressed happiness that despite many communities are settling together in Litan Sareikhong area, not even a single complaint has been come from the area in terms of violence and unwanted confrontations.
The residents of Litan must safeguard this tradition of harmonious relationship in times to come as well, he added.
Regarding development activities, the MLA stated that Sareikhong community hall which was constructed by his late mother and former MLA Hangmila Shaiza in 1991 is not able to accommodate the increasing population of the area.
So, a bigger hall one would be constructed soon, he announced.
Different types of entertainment programmes showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Kukis were displayed during the celebration.
The main attraction of the functions were cultural dance, gun salute, choreography, song and dances.
Earlier in the function, a weekly market shed was inaugurated by the MLA in the heart of Litan Bazar.
Tuila celebrates: An eventful Chavang Kut, was celebrated at Tuila village under Henglep AC yesterday, as was in other parts of the State, with fun and gaiety, reports our CCpur Correspondent.
The day was filled with fanfare, one after another; from a colourful cultural event during the day, a regional football final match in the evening to musical gala complemented with a crowd swaying Miss Kut contest.
