International Yoga Day observed across state

Imphal, June 21 2021:
Chief minister N Biren Singh and Rajya Sabha MP and titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba led the people in observing the 7th International Yoga Day in the state on Monday.
As in other parts of the world, Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur celebrated International Yoga Day led by N Biren at its Nityaipat Chuthek office here on Monday.
Speaking at the observance held early morning, CM Biren described as a very proud moment for the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the world is acknowledging the importance of Yoga.
Yoga which has been practiced by sages and sportspersons since ages should also become a daily habit for general public for maintaining healthy body and mind, he stressed.
On the issue of Covid-19, N Biren observed that it is no mean feat for India to contain the pandemic which has a population of 135 crore.
It is only due to the leadership of PM Modi that the nation has been able to face the pandemic, which has been recognised world over.
Vaccination is the only way to protect ourselves from Covid-19, he maintained and appealed to the party workers to continue their effort for mass vaccination.
BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra stated that yoga can play a major role in ensuring public to have good health.
If people want to strengthen their immune system to protect themselves from Covid-19, they must practice yoga, he said.
A yoga session was held as a part of the observance which was also attended by works minister Th Biswajit, MP Dr RK Ranjan and international boxer Laishram Sarita among others.
International Yoga Day was also observed by BJP Keishamthong Mandal, Leirongthel PAHWC Thingel, HNWC Thinungei and HWC Awang Khunou Imphal West.
Speaking as chief guest during celebration of 7th International Yoga Day organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), Manipur Prant in association with M/S Eastern Motors & Eastern Pharma, Chingmeirong in virtual mode on the theme 'Yoga for Wellness' on Monday, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba stressed that Yoga provides calmness of mind in this stressful world.
He encouraged all the participants to follow and practice yoga for wellness as well as for a peaceful and harmonious living.
The programme began with an opening song 'Vande Mataram' sung by Joybi Sinam followed by a speech by BVP national vice president Dr S Rajendra Singh on the importance of yoga in our daily life.
A live talk on postcovid physiotherapy exercises was delivered by RIMS senior physiotherapist Joybi Sinam along with yoga demonstration by Preety Thokchom, an internationally famed yoga instructor from Mumbai.
Headquarters IGAR South, Mantripukhri and all sectors under the aegis of IGAR (South) also celebrated 7th International Yoga Day on Monday.
The event was conducted at Mantripukhri, Imphal, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Kakching, Moreh, Pallel, Chandel, Sendra and various remote locations of Manipur.
The event proceeded with creating awareness about COVID-19 preventive measures followed by various yoga asanas.
It was celebrated by following all COVID protocols issued by Ayush Ministry.
Similarly, 44 Assam Rifles celebrated International Yoga Day and Yoga sessions were conducted at Battalion headquarters Tamenglong and remote locations of Dikhuram and Azuiram village while Maram Battalion celebrated International Yoga Day at Maram Garrison following the guidelines issued by Ministry of Ayush.
On the other hand, soldiers of the Spear Corps celebrated International Yoga Day with great fervour and enthusiasm as the soldiers displayed immaculate flexibility and balance during conduct of various asanas.
Subsidiary Training Centre Border Security Force (STC-BSF) Churachandpur too celebrated International Day of Yoga while SHQ BSF - CI (Ops) Koirengei celebrated Yoga Day at its Campus and 69 Battalion CRPF at its Mantripukhri headquarters.
On the other hand, the International Yoga Day was observed at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences after the formal inauguration by RIMS medical superintendent Prof H Priyoshakhi Devi.
In a release, RIMS Imphal media advisor N Phillip Singh informed that a yoga session was held at its Jubilee Hall.
New Saraswati House India Pvt Ltd on Monday observed International Yoga Day via online mode with health and fitness instructor Dr Richa Sood conducting a session participated by 3000 people.
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) Imphal observed 'International Day of Yoga 2021' by organising a webinar to highlight 'Yoga for Wellness' in virtual mode on Monday.
According to a release by IBSD Imphal, the programme was addressed by IBSD, Imphal director Prof Pulok Kumar Mukherjee with eminent experts including ICAR-Central Tobacco Research Institute, Research Station, Tamil Nadu principal scientist Dr P Manivel; The Yoga Physique Institute and Studies, Manipur managing director Dr L W Ananta and Sh K Thomas Niranjan Kumar, a wellness expert from Hyderabad highlighting the importance of Yoga for human wellness.
The 7th International Day of Yoga, 2021 was observed by Bharat Swabhiman (Trust) & Patanjali Yog Samiti, Imphal West District, Manipur at 5 am Monday through video conference.
In a release, BST Imphal West zilla prabhari M Charan Singh stated that Heigrujam Patanjali Yoga Centre, Ningombam Patanjali Yoga Centre, Malom Makha Awang Leikai Patanjali Yoga Centre and Lamdeng Patanjali Yoga Centre observed International Day of Yoga while adhering to Covid-19 SOPs The programme was marked by practicing yoga in mass and spreading awareness about yoga for health, wealth, peace and harmony, it added.
Manipur State Bharat Scouts and Guides also observed International Yoga Day under the theme 'Yoga for wellbeing' at its state training centre at Langol Game Village.
As a part of the observance, a two-day blood donation camp organised by Covid-19 Task Force Scouts of Manipur was held at JNIMS Hospital.
BJP Kakching District and Kakching Mandal organised International Yoga Day observance led by Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar at his residence at Kakching Makha Lou on Monday.
The programme included yoga demonstration by BJP Kakching District president Usham Ibomcha, workers and yoga players.
International Yoga Day observance was also held at Medical Directorate led by Health Service director Dr K Rajo Singh under the theme 'Yoga for wellness' on Monday.
Members of District Yoga Training and Research Association (DYTRA), Kakching observed International Yoga Day in their respective residences as per the instruction of Union Ministry of Ayush under the theme 'Be with yoga, be at home' in view of the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.
The Day was also observed at Health and Wellness Centre, Langathel with yoga demonstration by Centre's community health officer Paonam Roshalin Devi and yoga instructor M Indurani Devi.
The participants were also provided hand sanitizers and face masks.
International Yoga Day observance was also organised by BJP Khangabok Mandal at Sorojini Oil Pump led by former candidate from Khangabok AC Thokchom Jadumani while former candidate from Wangkhem AC and social worker Kangabam Jadumani joined others in a special yoga session at Charangpat Luxmi Bazar.
The day was also observed by BJP leaders and units at Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai, Khongjom, Thoubal and RYDO Ground Charang-pat Maning Leikai.
