International Day of Yoga' celebrated widely

MP Leishemba Sanajaoba said 'Yoga provides calmness of the mind in this stressful world'.
He said this while attending the online International Yoga Day organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad today in association with M/s Easter Motors and Eastern Pharma, Chingmeirong.

The Manipur University observed the "7th International Day of Yoga 2021" under the theme of Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family" as a part of "Fit India Movement'.
The virtual observation programme was organised by the Department of Yoga in association with NSS, Cell, Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club, and Manipur University, Canchipur today from 8 am, said a press release issued by Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club of Manipur University.
Letpao Haokip, Minister of IFCD and YAS, Prof W Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, Manipur University, Prof T Inaobi Singh, Dean, School of Education, Manipur University and Prof S Sanatombi Singha, Vice-Chancellor (i/c), Manipur University graced the virtual observation as presidium members, the release said.
The release also quoted Letpao Haokip as saying, "Yoga, an ancient practice and meditation, has become increasingly popular in today's busy society.
For many people, yoga provides a retreat from their chaotic and busy lives.
Yoga is one of oldest traditional disciplines in India and it is considered highly relevant and beneficial in today's day and age since the practice comprehensively addresses a diverse range of physical, mental, social and spiritual.
It also helps in increasing flexibility, muscle strength and body tone".
The release also quoted Prof S Sanatombi Singha as saying, "Yoga is not a religion; it is a way of living that aims towards a healthy mind in a healthy body".
She had also explained that Yoga asanas are the simplest and the easiest way to reduce excess weight and to meditate one's body and mind, the release said.
Demonstration of 'Common Yoga Protocol' was performed by expert Dr M Nodiyachand Singh, Head, Department of Yoga, Manipur University and followed by all the participants.
JN observes 'International Yoga Day' and 'International Music Day'
The Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), Imphal also observed the International Yoga Day today at the auditorium of the Academy.
The Programme was organized under the guidance and the instruction of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Culture Government of India, said a press release issued by Director (i/c) JNMDA.
Yoga instructor, Y Nando Luwang conducted 'Yoga Class' for 45 minutes in connection with the day and was attended by Prof H Tombi Singh, former Vice-Chairman JNMDA and P Bilash Singh, Director (i/c) JNMDA along with artistes of the Production Unit, JNMDA, the release said.
A Manipuri Solo Dance (Neela Kamala and the Krishna gi Wajarabi Yasoda) was also presented by N Amusana Devi, a renowned Manipuri Dancer, Choreographer, Guru & also Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee.
Later the Academy also celebrated International Music Day at the auditorium of the JNMDA under the guidance of P Bilash Singh, Director (i/c) JNMDA, it added.

programme.
A music composition on the theme "Chatkhro Corona" composed by Kh Rameshkumar Singh, Musician, Production Unit JNMDA was also released on the occasion.
RIMS
The day was also observed by Regional Institute of Medical Science.
The observation programme was inaugurated by Medical Superintendent H Priyosakhi Devi who also emphasized on the importance of yoga in our daily life, said a press release issued by the media advisor of RIMS.
The Medical Superintendent stated that this year's theme of the day " Yoga For Wellness" is very relevant as the fight against Covid pandemic continues.
Prof AK Joy Singh, Head of PMR Department, Prof Th Sachin Deba Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Kaikam Doungel, Deputy Director (Admn), physical instructor, officials and staff attended the session and a yoga session was also held in the Jubilee Hall of RIMS.
IBSD
Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal conducted a webinar today on International Day of Yoga, 2021' .
Speakers Dr P Manivel, Head of CTRI Research Station, Vedasandur in Tamil Nadu, Dr LW Ananta, Physical Education Promotion Officer (Yoga), Govt of Manipur and Kathula Thomas Niranjan Kumar, Wellness expert from Hyderabad spoke during the webinar regarding Yoga and its importance.
Bharat Shwabhiman (NYAS), New Saraswati House India Pvt Limited and Biramangol College, Sawombung also observed International Yoga Day.
