Kangpokpi, June 21 2021:
COVID Task Force (CTF), Kangpokpi continued with its 'Mask Kangpokpi Campaign' in the district headquarters.
On Monday, CTF Kangpokpi was shocked to see many people coming out without wearing masks despite its relentless effort towards imparting awareness on the importance of wearing a mask and providing it free of cost under its Mask Kangpokpi Campaign to ensure everyone is wearing mask while venturing out for any emergency works.
Haolet Khongsai, chairman CTF Kangpokpi, said that as it was a market day his team wanted everyone coming out to market wear mask but the team found many people not following the COVID appropriate behaviour in the town.
He continued that such negligence and carelessness of the people would pose the risk of contracting the virus as well as spreading the infection to others and said that very tough measures are needed for those who do not care about theCOVID appropriate behaviours.
CTF Kangpokpi volunteers were seen distributing masks with a warning to those who came out without one.
Volunteers of the task force were also seen monitoring the opening of the market in the town and checked whether all shopkeepers possessed COVID Free Certificate while strictly enforcing social distancing and other COVID appropriate behaviour during the opening of the market.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 claimed one more life in the district on Monday as a 62-year-old man named Droeing from Kangchup Chiru under Kangchup-Geljang Sub Division succumbed to the virus at RIMS Hospital Imphal around 11:30 am.
With one more fatality, the COVID death toll in the district reached 35 while the number of active cases reached 98 .
