FINGODAP, IWCDC allege
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, May 04 2022: The Federation of Indian NGOs on Drug Abuse Prevention (FINGODAP), Manipur State Branch, Childline Imphal West and Integrated Women And Children Development Centre ( IWCDC) have accused the proprietor, manager and staff of Punya Hyundai, Punya Honda, Punya Toyota and Punya KIA of attacking the staff of Shine (a drug treatment centre) and Childline Imphal West on April 30 and urged the authority concerned to initiate legal actions against the perpetrators at the earliest.

Speaking to media persons at Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai today, IWCDC secretary Annie Mangsatabam claimed that the proprietor of Punya Hyundai, Punya Honda, Punya Toyota and Punya KIA Andy Mangsatabam forcibly entered the premise of Shine at Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai on April 30 at around 9.15 am along with his staff (about 50-70) and attacked the female staff of the centre.

Claiming that the attackers also snatched the mobile phones of the staff and directed the clients undergoing treatment to return homes, Annie claimed that three female staff were injured in the attack and they have been admitted to a hospital.

Further claiming that the proprietor of the car dealer warned one female staff that she will be summoned in the hills, Annie condemned the attackers for not respecting law, especially the modesty of women and threatening to close the drug rehabilitation centre and 24x7 childline office.

Annie said that they lodged a complaint to the police as they have no other option but the proprietor doesn't show any respect to the law enforcing agency.

An FIR has been registered against Andy Mangsatabam and some of his staff including general manager RK Prem , Manager Ch Kanan and service manager L Popo on the day of the incident itself, she said and appealed to the State police to register a case against other staff of Punya Hyundai who threatened and assaulted the staff of Shine and take up befitting actions against them.

Annie further stated that the land of Integrated Women and Child Development Centre belongs to her.

Saying that she joined the organisation in 1980 as a chief functionary, she added that the centre has treated over 12,000 drug addicts, gave over 100 children for adoption and empowered several HIV positive widows.
