Imphal, May 25 2009:
Those unknown persons who abducted Huidrom Angoubi (42), son of Chaonaobi of Sekmaijin Mamang Leikai under the jurisdiction of Kakching Police Station on the night of May 21 have turned out to be cadres of the proscribed rebel organisation People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).
This came to light when Angoubi, who has been held hostage for four days in the custody of PREPAK, escaped today.
After he escaped from the custody of the rebels, Angoubi narrated many things about his abduction to a group of reporters at a place in Sekmaijin area today.
His younger brother Huidrom Bidhur @ Inao (38) is said to have started working for the finance section of PREPAK and collecting funds.
After that cadres of PREPAK frequently came to their house looking for Bidhur telling the family members that he had taken a huge amount of money and a weapon.
Angoubi told the reporters that the activists of PREPAK warned the family members to produce him or repay Rs 5,00,000 .
When family members repeatedly told Bidhur to contact the party members and try to bring an amicable compromise, he always said that he would try to repay the money.
In the meanwhile, being unable to catch Bidhur, the armed PREPAK activists came around 11 pm of May 21 to their house and told him that they need to talk to him and took him away.
Angoubi further narrated that he did not know everything that his younger brother did.
Moreover, they married having their own children and maintaining their own families.
It is unfortunate that he was threatened to pay up the huge amount of money, if not he would be killed.
He appealed to the concerened not to hold anyone of the family as hostage and threaten them.
Give punishment that ought to be given to the guilty, he appealed.
