The speculation over the killing of a tribal girl, Lungailu Panmei, at Delhi last week comes to an end with the Delhi police ascertaining the accused involved in the killing of the girl and confirming his involvement in the crime.
According to a statement of Senior Officer of the Delhi Police, the culprit was none other than Gaijaomei George of Noney in Tamenglong district, who was said to have had an affair with the deceased.
The police officer stated that the accused, Gaijaomei- also staying at Delhi for writing UPSC examinations, was arrested on May 21 .
According to his confessional statement provided to the Delhi police, he had killed her girl friend for refusing to give consent on his marriage proposal.
The Delhi Police further established that one relative of the deceased Lungailu Panmei, identified as Roshan, her nephew, was also conspiring in the crime.
It stated that he called out from her rented room on May 13 .
It may be mentioned that the dead body of Langailu Pamei (25) daughter of Chun Thuilung (Athui) Pamei of Khumji Part-II (Lukhambi) village in Tamenglong district, a nurse at Delhi's Vinayak Hospital, was disposed off by the authority at Delhi on May 19 after retrieving her body at Ridge Area, Rajpur Civil Line on May 15 .
Seeing red on the dead, a JAC was formed against the killing here by various Zeliangrong bodies including the Zeliangrong Union, ZSUM, Zeliangrong Cultural Council, Zeliangrong Youth Front, and Kabui Mothers' Association.
Various organisations of the state have also registered their protest against the killing.
