DAVP exhibition gets thump-ups at Kanglatongbi

In what could be termed as a step towards reaching the public, a five-day long photo exhibition on the theme 'Development Initiatives in North East' kicked-off on Tuesday at Kanglatongbi Panchayat Hall in Imphal West District.
The mass awareness campaign being organized by the Field Exhibition Office, Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Imphal about the various developmental projects undertaken by the Government of India would continue till 17th August.
Setting the five-day long campaign into motion, Shiv Kumar Basnet, Pradhan of Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat welcomed the photo exhibition and informed that some of the central schemes such as MGNREGS have been successfully implemented under Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat.
He further pointed out the positive roles of ASHA workers on the female communities during pregnancy.

On the health front, the Pradhan regretted the absence of doctor at Kanglatongbi Primary Health Sub-Centre.
He also highlighted the need for better communication with regards to the schemes and policies of government for public.
Giving the key-note address, Dr Gin Gangte, IIS, Field Exhibition Officer, DAVP, Imphal explained about the purpose and objective of the exhibition while highlighting the various schemes being taken up by the Government of India for the welfare of the people in the North East.
Welcoming the exhibition, Devi Prasad Siwakoti, Retd Headmaster said that this kind of visual exhibition will help even the illiterate citizens to understand the various developmental schemes and policies being layout by the govt.On the occasion, Winilung, Chairman of Namdilong Village Authority also felt the need of frequent mass awareness campaign to highlight the various schemes of the government.
Participated by public enthusiastically, the inaugural function of the exhibition was attended by Meena Bista, Up-Pradhan of Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat and Chandra Neopane, Secretary of Vijaynagar Women Society among other dignitaries.
A collection of about 130 photographs from the north east are on display at the exhibition.
