Patriots' Day observed at Sadu Chiru

The 122nd Patriots' Day was observed by NIPCO, Ichum Kom Ching Tam Area Committee (NICTAC) at the Hall of Sadu Chiru Club under Saitu Constituency in Senapati district today.
The observance was attended by President of NICTAC N Achou Mangang as Chief Guest and member of Irengbam Gram Panchayat L Bimol as President, while ex-Chief of Sadu Chiru Waikhongam, President of NIPCO Sunil Karam, Chief of Sadu Chiru Waikhodar and Chief of Loibol Khuman L Hoikhonei attended as Guests of Honour.
The dignitaries along with the villagers and students of Sadu Chiru paid floral tribute to Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General.
Speaking on the occasion, President of NICTAC N Achou said that the people of Manipur have inherited the traits of patriotism and valour from the ancestors who dared to challenge the mighty British forces while trying to protect the motherland.
Putinthang of Loibu Khunou said that the Patriots' Day was observed even in the hills till late 1980s.However, the observance stopped all of a sudden in the last few years.
People must honour the patriots regardless of social and communal differences, he enjoined.
Meanwhile, Protection and Preservation Committee, Manipur (PPCM) also observed the Patriots' Day at Hotel Imphal with ex-Minister RV Mingthing Tangkhul, Commandant of 7th MR Sarangthem M Khoiranthaba, Associate Professor of CAU Dr Gangmei Sobha, President of Kuki Inpi Thangkhosei Haokip and Associate Professor of GP Women's College Md Abdul Hakim as presidium members.
