Awareness on Piggery

An awareness campaign cum training programme on "Piggery Development" was organized by Dziizhii Tao Nah Welfare Association on Aug 11 at DRDA conference hall Senapati DHQ under the project Support to Training and Employment Programme for Women (STEP) sponsored by Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi.
The occasion was graced by Deputy Commissioner PK Jha, IAS as chief guest, Superintendent of Police Isak Shah, MPS and L Thankholun Kuki, DSWO as guest of honour and president of the function respectively.
The resource persons of the training programme were Dr H Chaoba, Joint Director & Planning, Vety & Animal Husbandry, Govt of Manipur; S Khah Lawrence, Project Officer DRDA Senapati and P Delilah Pao, social activist.
Speaking at the programme, the DC encouraged the women folk to promote piggery and self help group in the grass root level to boost the economy.
The Government is serious in assisting those performing SHGs as it will create employment and generate income to the family and society as a whole.
The training programme successfully concluded with the presence of more than 200 participants including 160 BPL women from Senapati District.
