Thoubal peaceful during curfew relaxation

There was no report of untoward incident in Thoubal District during the curfew relaxation.
The indefinite curfew was relaxed from 6 am to 5 pm on Saturday in view of the encouraging developments.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) which was formed to spearhead the agitation against the May 5 night firings had called off the state wide general strike.
The JAC has already claimed the body of Moirangthem Gopal whose body was cremated on Friday.
The district magistrate T Ranjit had lifted the curfew on Saturday to enable people of the district to buy consumer items.
However, it was reimposed after 5 pm.
Official indications are that in view of the improved law and order situation and subsiding tension, curfew may be relaxed further on Sunday.
The Aimols have called for a peace committee to restore peace and communal harmony.
Besides, Aimol women said that the people in general and women in particular were not associated with the ugly incident and that it was the handiwork of some individual(s) .
However, the people at Pallel and Kakching areas are not amused since the Aimol community has failed to tender unqualified apology through media.
It was announced that the punitive fine given by the Aimols to the Lai Haraoba committee shall be returned.
Reports said that dozens of people who had been stranded in Moreh since the firing managed to rush back to Imphal during the curfew relaxation.
Traders and tourists are not going to Moreh since nothing definite can be said now.
