Imphal, May 09 2015 :
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) Thoubal district Committee has urged mela organisers to ban all sorts of games which involve betting and staking money.
According to a statement of AMSU, melas organised in the past were mainly to provide a platform to showcase crafting and other finished products made locally.
However, some individuals with an intention to earn mountains of money have been conducting games which involve betting and staking of money within the mela ground.
Volunteers of AMSU Thoubal district committee will initiate drive at various mela sites to ensure such activity is not conducted, it added.
