IFC Minister inspects road at Makhan

IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip today inspected the newly constructed approach road of IGNTU, Regional Campus at Makhan village in Senapati district.
The Minister was satisfied with the quality of the road.
Volunteers of KSO, ANSAM and IGNTUSU also expressed satisfaction to the Minister for completing the road on time.
The length of the road is 1.5 km and width is 10 ft, he said and added that widening of the road requires consent from the villagers, who are residing on either sides of the road.
Although, Chief Minister advised him to widen the road up to 60 ft, the road was constructed with the present width as road expansion exercise would take time, he added.
Meanwhile, volunteers of KSO, ANSAM and IGNTUSU today inspected the work progress of construction of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University at Makhan village in Senapati district.
KSO general secretary Seiboi Haokip said that IGNTUSU had staged different forms of agitation demanding early completion of the Makhan campus in February this year.
He added that in a joint meeting, MSPDCL, PHED and PWD officials had assured to provide water and power supplies and revamp the approach road.
As per their assurance, PWD constructed the approach road within two months, he said and added that however MSPDCL and PHED are yet to provide power and water supplies to the campus.
IGNTUSU president Bowangkho said that varsity authority is planning to shift to Makhan campus from the present temporary campus of Adimjati complex, Chingmeirong before the beginning of the next session.
Although, KSO and ANSAM have written to varsity Vice-Chancellor and National Project Construction Cooperation Ltd to visit the Makhan campus before its inauguration, the demand is yet to be fulfilled , he added.
On the otherhand, he also requested the concerned not to carry out quarry works near the newly constructed approach road of Makhan campus.
