CS optimistic about State's future

Government of Manipur is working wholeheartedly with dedication while burning the proverbial midnight oil to bring about an overall development and the State has seen lots of change in the last few years in the field of education, tourism, power supply, industries and commerce and other areas, said Chief Secretary (CS) PC Lawmkunga.
He also said the future of student community and the people of Manipur are very bright.
The Chief Secretary was speaking at the valedictory cum prize distribution function of District Inter School Sports Meet organized under the theme "Play for Change" by Senapati District Students' Association in collaboration with the District Administration on Saturday at Mini Stadium, Senapati District Headquarters.
In his speech, PC Lawmkunga said Manipur Government has been trying its best to promote quality education under RTE by way of providing infrastructure and improving academic condition.
"If the people of Manipur work hard with commitment and a feeling of oneness, unity and integrity, they will be able to achieve greater thing and scale new heights", said the Chief Secretary.
PC Lawmkunga further said that the student organizations in Manipur have a vast role to play towards the welfare of the people and pointed out that both the Government and the student organizations, NGOs and other civil society organizations are working for the welfare of the people.
He however lamented the way how some groups have been exerting pressure on the Government and harassing Government officials and employees.
The Chief Secretary stated that the Government was aware of the needs felt by the students for quality education, good academic environment, teaching aids, teachers and others.
He said that the student organization and the people should also note that Manipur is a poor State having limited resource mobilization.
Speaking at the occasion, P Vaiphei, Commissioner (Hr.
& Tech.
Edu/SCERT) expressed concern on absence of Higher Secondary School and Government Colleges in the district and said that the Government has already given green signal for establishing the same through a cabinet decision few days ago.
The function was attended by PC Lawmkunga as Chief Guest and P Vaiphei and N Ashok Kumar, Secretary to CM & Director YAS as Guest of Honours.
C Arthur, Director, Hr.
Education and Chairman of CoHSEM, Government of Manipur; Kabib K IPS, Superintendent of Police, Senapati and Ng Bhogendra Meetei, ASPD/SSA attended the function as Special Guests while Jacintha Lazarus, DC Senapati graced the occasion as Host Guest.
Meanwhile, Senapati District Students' Association and Private Schools' Association in the district submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary demanding funds for construction of Multi-Purpose Hall.
