Tension eased in village land dispute

Tension amongst villagers of Charoi Khullen, Silen and Kumun villagers have been eased as a meeting of the village leaders held today decided to ban occupation of the disputed land until an agreement to the ownership is brought about.
The reconciliation meeting was initiated by JM Bhagat, Commandant 32 Bn CRPF and attended by Sh Thanggin chief of Silen Village Sh Wakanlen, chief of Charoi Khullen.

The meeting attempted to find a peaceful and lasting solution acceptable to all parties, a statement of SS Haokip, Adjutant, 32 Bn CRPF said adding that an agreement was reached between the two villages to maintain peace and harmony in the area until a mutual settlement is brought about by the concerned authorities.

Further, it agreed to maintain the status quo at the disputed site.
Charoi Khullen villagers later on called on Jacintha Lazarus, Churachandpur DC in her office to submit their grievances over the land dispute issue simmering since the early 1980s, the statement added.
