Bandh against abduction of L Suresh ends

The 24-hour State-wide bandh called in protest against the abduction and detention of Longjam Suresh of Top Siphai by unidentified armed persons in combat dress ended peacefully.
Although the bandh could not give much impact in other parts of the State, atleast four vehicles were damaged by bandh supporters along Mayai Lambi.
Traffic along the road were blocked from Hiyangthang to Mayang Imphal by putting boulders and burning tyres at different places.
One truck, one van and two two-wheelers were damaged by bandh supporters during the 24-hour bandh.
Police dispersed bandh supporters by firing tear gas shells and mock bombs at different places.
Longjam Suresh of Top Siphai was picked up by unidentified armed persons in combat dress along with one Ch Manglemba of the same locality from their respective houses on the night of February 18 .
Although Manglemba was released at Koirengei on February 20, Suresh's whereabouts still remain as a mystery.
