Speaker summons Chief Secretary

Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly has summoned the Chief Secretary tomorrow in his office chamber over the matter of poor attendance of top bureaucrats in the Assembly session.
Dissatisfied with the poor turn out, Speaker I Hemochandra suggested that commissioners, secretaries etc.
of various departments should be in the House when members are discussing various policies and programmes of the state.
Hemochandra said that when the House is discussing various issues of the state, ministers, MLAs need to participate and high ranking officers should also cooperate with the House and its members.
The Speaker pointed out that 53 officers signed in the attendance register maintained by the Assembly when the session started at 11 am but most of the officers left the Assembly after the session started.
Only around 17 officials were in the house during the afternoon session.
In such conditions, how is the House to conduct proceedings.
Concerned over the matter, he directed the Chief Secretary to come to his office tomorrow and meet him at his office chamber at 10 am to discuss the matter before the session commences.
