Imphal, January 27 2017:
MPCC spokesperson, Kh Joykisan has said that the United Naga Council (UNC) would be declared as an unlawful organisation.
Speaking to media persons at Congress bhavan today, he said that the State Government is planning to declare the UNC as an unlawful organisation due to the hardships imposed on the people of the State by its economic blockade.
He said, "Two people have already lost their lives and many more injured as a result of the UNC's economic blockade which has also led to the destruction of numerous vehicles, trucks and essential commodities" .
He said that the State Government would take up steps to declare the UNC as an unlawful organisation due to the suffering and hardships faced by the public.
Expressing belief that the BJP State Unit will support the State Government's recommendation to the Central Government to declare the UNC as an unlawful organisation, he said that the BJP State Unit should make the public aware of its stand regarding the matter.
"Let the people know which party is trying to bring peace and stability to the State", he said.
Slamming BJP, Joykisan said, "As long as the BJP keeps favouring NSCN (IM) over the people of Manipur, the blockade will never end" .
Questioning the motive behind Himanta Biswa Sarma's promise to end the economic blockade if PR was implemented in the State for two days, Joykisan asked whether the BJP is planning to retract the seven newly formed districts in the State or give in to the demand of South Nagaland.
