Picked up from home man found dead at Ukhrul

The PLA's Imphal East division secretary who was pulled up from near his Andro residence by some unidentified persons suspected to be wearing khaki uniform on November 2 was found shot dead at zero point between Phangrei and Lunghar in Ukhrul district today.
Division Secretary Hijam Babu alias Ram (33) of Andro Kharam Leikai remained untraceable since he was pulled up by the unidentified persons.
According to Babu's aunt Chingakham Thambal, Babu was given a jug of water which he offered to two of his friends at about 6.30/7 pm of November 2 .
"Moments later, some shoutings were heard.
As we rushed out, some people who were hiding in the nearby area jumped out and took away Babu in a Bolero jeep", Thambal said.
The two men who asked water from Babu were clad in plain clothes and they came on a two-wheeler.
But colour of the Bolero jeep could not be made out due to darkness.

On the other hand, a police source informed that a man was found shot dead at zero point between Phangrei and Lunghar in Ukhrul district at about 10.30 am today.
The deceased who bore a fatal bullet injury on the head was later identified as Babu.
Babu's uncle Hijam Umachandra said that Babu had retired from PLA after working in the outfit for 15/16 years and his marriage was already fixed.
Unaware that Babu had been shot dead, the All Andro Meira Paibi staged a protest demonstration at Andro Bazar demanding disclosure of Babu's whereabouts.
