Imphal, November 05 2012:
The All Manipur Tribal Disables Union, Manipur (ATDUM) has decried the government for its lack of concern to many of their grievances.
Despite the notice by the Chief Secretary DS Poonia in July 2010 and further by the governor on January 19, 2011 for distribution of disability certificates in all the hill districts of Manipur through the various health agencies and centers like PHC and CHC and in the Sub-divisional level too, by the concerned department, yet nothing worthwhile has been done, ATDUM president MomoTangtanga alleged at his office at Nagaram.
However, it was not conducted in the hills and only JNIMS hospital issued the certificates, he added.
Disabled unions from Senapati, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Chandel and Ukhrul have decided to boycott the assessment camps indefinitely until the government complied with their demand.
They will also pressure for releasing of backlog allowance since 2011 and mentioned the Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai on July 12 for separate Commission for the disabled within 3 months to be performed into action.
