Witnesses depose in rape case

Three key witnesses and Sub-Inspector Ningombam Tiken gave their statements before the Court in Jangthailiu Kamei rape case today.
Government Public Prosecutor Advocate Ngangom Tejkumar said that SI N Tiken of Kongba Kshetri Leikai, who is a personnel of Bishnupur District Police Commando, appeared before the Court after the cop was summoned.
In his statement, SI Tiken deposed that it was not his pistol that was used in the crime.
Quoting SI Tiken, Tejkumar said he (Tiken) had a party with Rojit, Ibomcha, Kenedy and Bijen at his quarters in Bishnupur that night.
However, they left his place at around midnight.
The four accused persons never used his 9 mm pistol in the alleged rape of ***** as he did not give his gun to them, Tiken deposed before the Court.
The next day, he handed over Rojit to Bishnupur Police alongwith his service 9 mm pistol after picking him up from his house, Tiken said.
The Court also took statements of victim **** , her brother-in-law *** and truck driver Munal.
On the other hand, ******'s husband ****** alleged that SI Tiken was the mastermind of the whole crime.
Days before the crime, police team led by Tiken used to take Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 from the loaded trucks plying along Tiddim Road, Ngamshok Kamei alleged.
He added that Tiken tried to mislead the Court if he had deposed before the Court that the pistol used that night was not his gun.
He must also be given punishment for the said reason, he demanded.
