Imphal, February 11 2020:
Heirok Block Congress Committee has strongly condemned the special summary revision of the electoral rolls taken up by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manipur, for Heirok A/C, labelling it as unsatisfactory.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Heirok BCC president Thokchom Ranjan said that almost all process of the electoral rolls revision is unsatisfactory.
Alleged lapses starting from the appointment of Booth Level Officer, he said that BLOs were not appointed from amongst the locals and added that there are also many unknown BLOs in the list.
A BLO should have clear knowledge about how many youths are in a locality, how many women married into the locality and how many shifted homes etc.
Even if the BLOs don't have any idea about these numbers, the Booth Level Agents (BLAs) should be consulted.
However, such allegedly biased and politically motivated move is completely intolerable, he added.
Alleging that Congress supporters who submitted proper documents for the revision, were neglected/omitted, he claimed that instead those who should have been removed were still included in the electoral rolls.
A complaint was submitted to the CEO Manipur regarding the issue of the BLOs on May 10 last year but to no avail, he lamented adding that the Heirok BCC will take legal remedies at the earliest.
