Cabinet okays direct purchase of land

The State Cabinet has given its consent to purchase land from private owners directly for implementation of different projects and establishment of educational institutions.
A Cabinet meeting was held today at the Chief Minister's Secretariat with Chief Minister O Ibobi in the chair.
Cabinet Ministers who attended the meeting agreed on procuring 15,000 metric tonnes of Urea and build up buffer stock for this kharif season.
To lift the ban on appointment in order to pave way for appointment to 113 vacant posts of DIET centres was one of the resolutions adopted at the meeting, informed Government spokesman M Okendro.
He stated that Rs 4,38,80,850 would be sanctioned soon for procuring 15,000 metric tonnes of Urea so that the State does not experience any shortage of Urea this kharif season.
The fertilizer would be purchased from Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited, Namrup and the consignment would be shipped in along Silchar-Imphal road.
Of the 113 vacant DIET posts which would be filled in soon, 49 posts belong to DIET Centre Imphal East which would be opened anew.
DIET Centres have become mandatory in every district following introduction of a new scheme known as Restructuring and Re-organization of Teacher Education which is funded 90 per cent by the Centre, Okendro conveyed.
The total 113 vacant seats include one post for Principal, nine for Vice-Principals, 54 for senior Lecturers and 17 for Lecturers.
In order to facilitate direct purchase of land for establishment of an IIIT at Mayangkhang Ningthoupham village in Senapati district, the Cabinet agreed to constitute a committee headed by the Senapati DC.
The areas required for the IIIT is around 100 acres.
A similar committee headed by the Thoubal DC would be formed in order to purchase 16 hectares of land for construction of a 400 KV power sub-station at 19-Yaithibi village in Thoubal district.
The State Cabinet also gave its consent for direct purchase of 12.5 acres of land at Kaina village for Integrated Mega Tourist Circuit for Marjing-Kaina-Khebaching (Khongjom) project.
It further resolved to purchase 98.86 acres at Tengkhal Khunou, 176.7 acres at Kakching Khullen and 223.3 acres at Thoubal Loijing through Commerce and Industries Department and another 7.28 acres at Moreh for opening a border haat, informed the Government spokesman.
