Imphal, May 13 2013:
The Rongmei Lu Phuam (RLP) and Association for the Development of Indigenous Women and Child Care (ADIWCC) have warned of launching agitations if the Government does not immediately submit a chargesheet against Md Basir in connection with the life attempt on Mala Lisham, Chairperson of CWC Thoubal.
Strongly condemning the alleged life attempt on Mala Lisham, Panti Golmei, president of RLP while addressing media persons today at Manipur Press Club, demanded that the Govt should immediately frame a chargesheet against Md Basir, a police constable, accused in the case.
Maintaining that it was very unfortunate that a policeman, who is supposed to give protection to the citizens, has turned the muzzle against the public, Panti Golmei demanded fitting punishment against Md Basir in order to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
She further warned that several women organisations would join hands with the JAC formed in connection with the murder attempt and launch various forms of intense agitation across the State if the Govt makes any attempt to keep the matter in abeyance.
The press meet was also attended by representatives of ADIWCC.
