Delhi to assess cross border trade, official to be deputed soon

Officials of the National Security Advisory Board Sub-Group would be coming to Manipur to conduct a direct assessment of the cross-border trade between India and Myanmar through Moreh as well as the Integrated Check Post being constructed at the border town.
Meanwhile, Export-Im-port (EXIM) Bank CMD TCA Ranganathan arrived at Imphal today.
He would visit Moreh tomorrow to make a field inspection of the cross border trade.
Officials of National Security Advisory Board Sub-Group which is headed by former Foreign Secretary Shyam Sharma are expected to arrive here on May 16.They would go to Moreh on the same day by helicopter.
At the border, they would make a direct assessment of the border trade, development work of Integrated Check Post and the border fencing work.
The team which will also visit Tamu town of Myanmar would also include officials of the Land Port Authority of India, informed a source.
Land Port Authority of India has already allotted development work of Integrated Check Post to LK & Sons and the agency has started its work.
Necessary plot for the Integrated Check Post was acquired by the State Government and handed over to the Government of India in May 2010 .
On the other hand, Chief Minister O Ibobi is scheduled to visit Myanmar in the last week of May and his entourage would include officials of BRO, Ministry of Home Affairs and Land Port Authority of India in addition to Ministers and officials of the State.
