Imphal, May 13 2013:
The All Manipur Students' Guardians Organisation has drawn the attention of the Education Minister regarding various malpractices and corrupted activities allegedly prevailing in the State Education Department.
In a press conference held at its office today, secretary of the organisation, S Sumati said that there is serious indication of presence of favouritism, irregularties and corrupt practices in the Department.
Saying that over the past 20 years, transfer, recruitment and promotion policies are not implemented properly according to the norms laid down by the State Government, Sumati said that many senior teachers have retired without enjoying their
deserved promotion.
Sumati further said that specified pension process and ACP (assure career promition) are in total mess.
Various schemes are not put into effect properly and aid provided by the Government do not reach the students owing to Education Minister's less concern on the said matters, Sumati said.
She added that many teachers who have been appointed under SSA and RMSA are being posted at Imphal area.
The Government should be held responsible for the deterioration of Government schools and people making a beeline for getting admission of their children at private schools, she pointed out.
Sumati further observed that it is high time to bring the mess in order by coming up with a serious measure to combat malpractices prevailing in the Education Department.
The State Government must have monthly assessment of infrastructure, staff strength, syllabus progress and so on in order to streamline the education system, Sumati said.
She added that proper implementation of schemes and policies for students and teachers is also a must, she added.
