BC Das pins hope on Cong victory

AICC Manipur incharge Bhakta Charan Das, who is hopeful of his party winning the legal battle against the BJP government in the state, would be leaving Imphal on Tuesday.
Sources said that BC Das chaired a meeting of CLP members to discuss the possible political scenario in the state after the apex court gives its verdict on the disqualification case of the 12 ruling MLAs for holding the offices of profit by virtue of their appointment as Parliamentary Secretaries.
A Congress MLA told The People's Chronicle that the party was hopeful of the apex court declaring its verdict on Monday but it was adjourned for a week.
The meeting took note of the development and reaffirmed its stand to continue the legal fight until they get justice.
AICC is extending all possible help to win the case.
A team of three Congress MLAs are currently in the national capital for the case and the party is hopeful of getting a verdict from the apex court in the next hearing, the MLA added.
BC Das asked the Congress MLAs to remain strong and assured that AICC will do its best to bring Congress rule in the state.
He told the meeting that the BJP government formed in an unconstitutional way cannot last long and justice will prevail.
He asked the Congress MLAs to stand united and work towards strengthening the party.
He also told the CLP members that he will meet AICC leaders on Tuesday and present a report to them in relation with the political situation in the state.
The MLA further informed that the meeting took note of the failure of the BJP government in containing the Covid-19 pandemic in the state due to its poor policy and interest in politics.
BC Das assured of reporting the way the Congress MLAs are working for the welfare of the public and how on the contrary the ruling party is failing to protect public lives during the pandemic, the MLA added.
