Pugmarks spotted

Senapati, July 26 2021:
Pugmarks, believed to be of carnivores, were spotted this early morning near St John Paul II School, near Maram Khullen under Senapati district.
The pugmarks were first detected by the owner of a fishery pond constructed below the school near the village.
On receiving the information, a team of Forest officials along with some local leaders of Maram Khullen inspected the area and spotted pugmarks at different places.
The pugmarks disappeared near a thick jungle of the village.

Officials from the Forest Department had reportedly instructed the villagers to stay alert.
No report of casualty nor attack on domestic animals is reported till the time of filing this report.
In a telephonic conversation, D John Sha, MFS, DFO, Senapati Forest Division stated that the pugmarks could be of an adult big cat.
He also mentioned that the department is planning to install cameras around the place to identify the animal.
