Imphal, September 16, 2009:
Nungba Citizen's Council (NCC) said that as per reported by the villagers of Luwanglon Khullen Nungleiban village of Nungba A/C, 60 percent of the works taken up under NREGS have failed to serve its purpose.
A press release of the council alleged that wages of three days in 2007 were not distributed by the chairman and secretary of the village.
It further added that wages for another 30 days were not properly distributed to the job card holders this year.
The council informed that a major scuffle erupted in the village during a meeting held on September 13 among job card holders, secretary and chairman due to such irregularities.
It urged the concerned authority to look into the matter and distribute wages with consent of the job card holders in order to avoid such incidents in future.
