Imphal, May 29 2019:
One hospital having special wards, general male and female wards and OPD has been found constructed inside Manipur University campus but there is not a single doctor at the hospital.
In addition to the university's existing health centre, the three-storeyed hospital building was constructed a few years back at the cost of several crores.
A shopping complex was also constructed near the hospital building.
The hospital's special wards are quite chic with bathrooms attached but the hospital has been sitting idle in the absence of doctors.
As such, MU authority has started due process to open classrooms of different departments inside the hospital building, sources informed.
The hospital's special wards have been already turned into Psychology Department, general male and female wards into Law Department and OPD has been converted into office of the Bank of Baroda.
Meanwhile, necessary arrangements are being made to open Department of National Security Studies, Department of Psychology and Department of South East Asian Studies from the forthcoming academic session.
Meanwhile, MU authority has decided to recover money taken by MU employees in the name of carrying out different activities but have failed to submit relevant documents by deducting certain percentage from their salaries starting from next month, said the sources.
A circular issued by the MU Administrator on May 8 said that the money which remains unaccounted would be recovered along with 6.45 per cent interest by deducting certain percentage from the salaries of the employees concerned every month.
