Sub-Junior Basketball Championship : YPHU thrash CYLC 28-19, ESU top Youth Club 48-30

Young Physique Union (YPHU), Lalambung knocked CYLC, Chingamathak out of the 36th State Sub-Junior Basketball Championship with a 48-19 drubbing today at Nahabam Basketball Court while ESU extended their winning run with a 48-30 win against Youth Club, Uripok.
YPHU underlined their superiority over CYLC, which suffered opening match (Group B) defeat in the hands of BOLERO yesterday, to lead the first quarter by 16-7 points before a 22-15 points lead till the second quarter.
The Lalambung side then added 12 and 14 points respectively in the third and the fourth quarters against 4 points by the Chingamathak side to wrap up the game 48-19.Lanchenba did the star turn in this one sided match as he fetched 18 points alone for YPHU and his teammate Paikhomba managed points to surpass the losing side's score.
L Rahul and Gourav also added 6 points each in YPHU's tally while Robert and Nelson scored two points each to make it a total of 48 points.
S Athouba on the other hand made the most of the scoring (11 points) for CYLC while E Denyson, L Leishemba (Jr No 8), L Leishemba (Jr No 4) and L Lucky scored 2 points each.
Meanwhile, ESU their ensured top spot finish in the Group A table with a commanding 48-30 win against Youth Club.
ESU ran riot to outdo the Uripok side by 16-02 margin in the first quarter before adding another 12 points in the second half against two points by their rivals.
Youth Club however made a late return to lead the last two quarters 6-4, 18-16 but their efforts fell short as much damage was done in the earlier half by ESU.
Sh Branmas of ESU took the centre-stage in this game as he stacked up 18 points alone while his team-mates H Rishikanta, Th Newton and L Nitish got 6 points each.
K Amaximus (5 points), M Telheiba (2 pts), M Telheiba (2 pts), GA Kriparaj (2) and Thuigongpou (1) also scored for the team.
Y Williamson (14 pts), S Mona (11 pts) and RK Devraj (5 pts) scored for the losing side.
YPHU, Lalambung will be meeting BOLERO, Sangai Chuthek in the last Group B league match tomorrow at 4 pm while Youth Club will play Model Club Chingamakha in the last Group A league match latter at 5 pm .
