Imphal, December 16 2014:
Reacting to the joint statement of the chairman of Thonglang Atongba, Akutpa, Harup, Topon and Makui villages, the GB/Chairman of Irang Part-I VA Board today said that the 'arrogant' and undemocratic words "self style GB" used by the chairmen exposed their level of their mentality and social obligation.
"Hari Prasad Nepal is not a self styled GB of Irang Part-I.The five Naga villages chairmen would please note that the GB of Irang Part-I comprising 11 villages of which he himself is GB has its own long ancestry and history.
The system of choosing the GB of the Irang Part-I is completely done under procedures and the same has been approved by the authority concerned vide order No ADC (KPI)/12/7/08 dt 6/5/08," a statement issued by Hari Prasad Nepal, GB/Chairman of Irang Part-I VA Board said in a statement.
The press release said that the statement of GB/Chairman of Irang Part-I VA Board on Dec 7 making some clarifications regarding the objection made by Thonglang Atongba VA was necessitated because the said authority's statement has created emotional disturbances among the Nepali community who have been living peacefully for the last many generations.
The permission for the settlement of Nepali community in the State of Manipur by the Britishers did not require the consent of others, it said.
The settlement of the Nepali in Manipur, be it in Irang Part-I or other areas, was very constitutional and Nepalese had never usurped or encroached others' land.
Regarding the creation of 50 Kangpokpi AC during 70s, the statement said that the entire exercise had been made by the Election Commission of India.
The ECI might have been convinced to make it a general constituency under the provision of the People's Representative Act.
Election Commission of India might not have deemed necessary to take permission from the Thonglang Atongba VA during the entire process of delimitation, it said.
It said that there was not any misleading information in the earlier statement of the GB and facts remain always facts, which may not be manipulated at all, it added.
