Rotary Club of Imphal installs Peace Pole at Sendra

In a bid to promote peace, harmony and goodwill, the Rotary Club of Imphal (RID 3240) on Sunday installed a Rotary Peace Pole at Sendra, near Loktak Lake.
Rotary Club of Imphal in a release said that the programme was organised as part of Rotary International's focus on peacebuilding and conflict prevention and resolution, while also seeking to enhance the organisation's public outreach.
The Rotary Peace Pole, a universal symbol of peace, carries a message of hope, unity and understanding among people of all communities, cultures and nations.
Its installation reflects Rotary's commitment to fostering peace at the local, national and global levels.
The Peace Pole was inaugurated through a ribbon-cutting ceremony jointly conducted by past presidents Rtn Dr M Madhumangal Singh and Rtn L Surchandra Singh in the presence of members of the Rotary Club of Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, club president Dr N Muhindro Singh highlighted the importance of the Peace Pole in the present context and stressed the need for mutual respect, dialogue, understanding and peaceful coexistence among all sections of society.
He said the installation was dedicated to promoting peace and reconciliation in Manipur while reaffirming Rotary's global mission of conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
Located at the scenic Sendra tourist destination, the Peace Pole symbolises Rotary's belief that lasting peace begins within individuals and communities before extending to the wider world.
Club members also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, understanding and community service in line with Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self," and the Rotary Year 2026-27 theme, "Create Lasting Impact".
The programme concluded with a fellowship gathering and a renewed pledge to work towards a more peaceful, inclusive and compassionate society.
