Imphal, January 12 2015:
The Imphal Ring Road Affected People Association, Khabam has warned of launching series of agitation if the authority concerned goes ahead with the proposal to change the scheduled area of Ring Road circuit at Khabam Lamkhai.
Addressing a press meet today at Manipur Press Club, spokesperson of the Imphal Ring Road Affected People Association, Khabam, Yengkokpam Priyokumar said that the Govt is planning to change the scheduled area for Ring Road circuit at Khabam Lamkhai of late.
The alteration of the route would affect many residents of the area as it passes through many pucca residential buildings whereas the previous scheduled area, based on scientific geo-positioning, would affect just 2/3 buildings, he said.
The previous scheduled area begins from Khabam Lamkhai turning point and runs towards the East till a point crossing of the IVR, about 300 metres from NH-39 .
The new aligned route starts from NH-39 along the existing IVR, Priyokumar said.
Pointing out that sudden change in the alignment of the proposed ring road circuit would cause immense hardship to the people of the area, Priyokumar said the previous scheduled area for the Ring Road should be stuck to.
Different forms of agitation would be launched if the aspiration of the people is not considered, he warned.
A memorandum was also submitted in this regard to the CM, Works Minister and the local MLA today.
