Stage set for Ncy Doungel Jaila-Ai rite

Decks have been cleared for performing a traditional rite to honour undisputed Kuki's finest composer, lyricist and litt�rateur, Ncy Doungel Jaila-Ai on March 13 at Kholmun Public Ground in Churachandpur.
Various timeless singers�old and new, began mesmerising the crowds during their rehearsals and significantly, the organizers have fine tuned their meditated arrangements.
"We have readied a plot of land that will be presented to Ncy Doungel on Wednesday evening as we celebrate her feat as a lyricist and a composer," said Seiboi Haokip, secretary of Ncy Jaila-Ai committee.
He told the press during a briefing here that the lyricist would also be given a Car adding, a souvenir titled Sahei Laidum will be released on the occasion.
Penning over 500 songs, Kholnei or Neicha Doungel, popularly known as Ncy Doungel wrote her first set of songs in the mid-80s, when she lost her love.
Later she expanded her theme to patriotic, country and devotional songs and thus notches a place of her own.
'Bad times, good times, happy times or any times, she has a sing for everyone, for any occasion and for any mood,' said her promoters.
Some of her immortal works such as 'Hinkhuo Ipiham' and 'Aw kahinkhuo' have for decades dominated the top chart on AIR's Thadou programme from various stations in the region.
Despite her feat she led a modest life, with no asset worth the name and that was what her promoters said have influenced them to walk the extra mile.
'Her achievements and the milestone she created, her prowess remains unsung neither at the state level nor at the national level.
It is disheartening that because of her tribal background and the language she used in her songs which is not developed; her talent will remain unacknowledged despite the fact that she is no less than any of those who have won awards at the state and national level,' said the Zaila-Ai committee.
They nevertheless declared that her fans across the globe will assemble to 'Ai' celebrate her achievements on Wednesday at Kholmun public ground.
'The Zaila-Ai committee will leave no stone unturned to make the occasion a grand and fruitful,' it added.
