The All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union in-
spected two Government schools at
Kanglatongbi and Charhajare yesterday, re-
ports our correspondent.
The inspection team was led by the union
general secretary LB Adhikari visited Gov-
ernment Hindi High School, Kanglatongbi
and Bishnulal Government High School,
Charhajare.
LB Adhikari lamented that two teachers
of Govt Hindi High School, Kanglatongbi
were found be irregular as per the informa-
tion mentioned in the attendance register
book and added that the ratio of existing
students and teachers are against the rules
laid down by the State Government.
The school has inadequate teachers.
The
school also suffers from an acute shortage of
drinking water though large water reservoirs
have been set up in the school campus.
He said Bishnulal Government High
School, Charhajare too is suffering from non-
availability of sufficient desks and benches
and added that the school authority would
borrow plastic chairs from local club for the
staff teachers.
Due to non-availability of language
teacher, many students could not take up
MIL subjects including Nepali, Thadou-
Kuki.
He continued that the kitchen allotted
for Mid Day Meal was damaged by the
recent earthquake.
Since there is no school
chowkidar, the headmaster has to ring the
school bell.
Drawing the attention of the
State Government, the union urged to take
up prompt steps at the earliest.
It also warned
of resorting to agitation if the appeals are
ignored.
