Obesity management campaign

Patanjali Research Foundation (Trust),
Haridwar will launch an obesity management campaign in 24
States including Manipur from April 15 .
This was stated by MC Binod, North East Co-ordinator of
Patanjali Research Foundation (Trust), Haridwar and president
of Patanjali Yog Samiti.
MC Binod said that obesity rate is on the rise in the country
and India ranks third after US and China according to a recent
research study published in a medical journal.
He said that several research studies have confirmed that
obese persons are vulnerable to metabolic disorders.
The most common causes of obesity is imbalance between
the energy derived from food and the energy spent on physical
activities, he said.
It has been proved that yoga is helpful to
achieve weight loss.
By performing 20 different asanas of
yoga, one can burn body fat and improve metabolism, he said.
Patanjali Research Foundation (Trust), Haridwar has cho-
sen 60 districts of 24 States in the country for the weekly yoga
camp to be held as part of the Nation-wide campaign on
obesity management.
Research based programmes would be
held at THAU Fitness Centre on April 15 and 16 and Leimayol
Art Centre, Chingamakha on April 18 and 19 .
Another venue in Bishnupur district would be announced
within a few days, he said.
