Imphal, June 30 2018:
Taking stock of the present imbroglio at Manipur University, Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) has backed the stand of MUSU and demanded immediate intervention of the State Government and the Central leaders to resolve the current crisis at the earliest in the interest of the students' community, said a press release issued by the committee.
PPCM maintained that the most important objective of an academic institution is to work in the interest of students.
PPCM also sought the immediate intervention of RSS leaders to remove Prof Adhya Prasad Pandey from the post of VC since he is known to be close to the RSS.
Contending that the charges against the VC are genuine, PPCM said that non-local Professors have been appointed to key positions of the University amid intense agitation against influx of immigrants.
PPCM also cautioned some local Professors working secretly at the behest of VC and questioned the conduct of VC Pandey for behaving like an army Brigadier and turning the university into a fortress keeping the Assam Rifles in the campus although the students have been agitating against it.
This is the first of its kind in an educational institution which clearly shows that the VC is acting against the aspiration of people.
The visit of Ministry of Human Resource Development Joint Secretary GC Hosur has failed to bring any amicable solution till date said PPCM and added that the intervention of the State Government and the Centre has become necessary to save the future of the students.
