Senior Citizens for Society, Manipur has urged ATSUM to call off the ongoing National highway blockade considering the inconvenience and hardships given to the people of the State.
Addressing a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, SCSM secretary Khaidem Mani said that the Supreme Court has already banned clamping of blockades and bandhs on National highways.
Stating that SCSM would extend support to the legitimate demands of ATSUM, Khaidem Mani said that they would not however support to resorting to highway blockade to fulfil a demand.
Khaidem Mani also strongly condemned harassment and physical assault meted out to the people of Mao community by SAPO and SAYO volunteers.
SCSM general secretary Prof L Sadananda said that the Government pays less attention to the issue of Dzuko valley.
Saying that the inconvenience caused to Mao people must be taken seriously, L Sadananda said that the matter must be resolved at Chief Minister's or Home Minister's level.
He said that the Central Government must also interfere into the issue instead of maintaining silence.
