Panchayati Raj Day observed across the State

Bishnupur/Kakching/Jiribam, April 24 2018: As the Nation observed Panchayati Raj Day, Manipur too observed the day with Panchayats across the State holding 'Special Gram Sabhas'.

Bishnupur District which has a total of 24 Gram Panchayats observed the Panchayati Raj Day at three block level- Bishnupur CD Block, Moirang CD Block and Nambol CD Block.

Phubala Gram Panchayat under Bishnupur block held a special Gram Sabha at Sunushiphai Community Hall.

Pradhan of the GP N Ranjit Singh, Up-Pradhan L Sundari, Thinungei ZP member Oinam Joychandra Singh and elected members of the Panchayat attended the Sabha.

Moirangkhunou Gram Panchayat's Special Gram Sabha was held at Moirangkhunou Community Hall in the presence of the Pradhan of the GP Laishram Dhaneshwor Singh, Kha Thinungei ZP member Oinam Ibojao Singh, ex Pradhan Labuktongbam Kondumba Sharma, president Women and Child Empowerment Organisation Moirangkhunou Huirem Rebika Devi, retd Head Master Lairenmayum Tondonbi and elected members of the GP attended the event.

As a part of the event, a drawing competition was held for the students of class III to VI on the theme "Model village".

66 students took part in the drawing competition that reflected the vision of a model village.

Panchayati Raj Day observed across the State

Kha Thinungei GP observed the Panchayati Raj Day as a part of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan under the theme "Sabka Saath, Sabka Gaon, Sabka Vikaas" at Thangalawai Sabal Leikai Community Hall.

MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh, Kha-Thinungei GP Pradhan N Ramananda Singh, Up-Pradhan N Krishnakumari Devi and elected members of the GP attended the event.

For Thanga Part I Gram Panchayat, the special Gram Sabha session was held at Khumanpokpa Community hall at Karang.

MLA T Robindro Singh, Bishnupur District Up-Adhaksha N Dinesh Singh, Up-Pradhan Thanga Part I GP S Athoiba Singh, Dr Ningthoujam Yaima Singh, social worker Kh Bidhu Singh and ward members attended the event.

In the Moirang CD Block, Wangoo GP held its special Gram Sabha at Wangoo Chithek Leikai Community Hall.

Kumbi AC MLA S Bira, Wangoo GP Pradhan Amom Ongbi Bina Devi, Wangoo Borayangbi ZP member M Brojen, social worker Asem Priyokumar and ward members attended the event as dignitaries.

The sabha at the Chithek Community hall witnessed various cultural/dances and songs to mark the observation of the Panchayati Raj Day.

Borayang;bi GP too observed the day with a special Gram Sabha session at Tangjeng Ahallup Community Hall.

Pradhan of the GP Thiyam Ongbi Binokumari Devi, Wangoo Borayangbi ZP member Moirangthem Brojen, social workers and members of the GP attended the event.

In the Nambol CD Block, Keinou GP observed the Panchayati Raj Day in the presence of Bishnupur District DC Pawan Yadav.

BDO Ngangom Linda Nambol Block, Pradhan of the GP Ng Sovana Devi, retd BDO Bishnupur L Kunjo Singh and watrd members attended the event.

Ngaikhong Khullen Gram Panchayat, Toubul GP and Irengbam GP too observed the Panchayati Raj Day today.

In Thoubal district, Keirak Gram Panchayat too observed National Panchayati Raj Day by holding a special Gram Sabha at Keirak Keithel Lampak Community Hall.

Wabagai AC MLA Md Fajur Rahim, Kakching Block BDO Th Charanjit, Wabagai/Keirak ZP member Mayanglambam Jayenta, Keirak GP Pradhan Elangbam Ongbi Santi Leima and other dignitaries attended the Gram Sabha.

The Gram Sabha highlighted and discussed various Centre sponsored schemes.

In Jiribam, Sonapur Gram Panchayat also observed the Panchayati Raj Day at its office today in the presence of its Pradhan Asma Begum.

During the event a Gram Sabha meeting was also held and reviewed the works and performance of Gram Panchayat for 20017-18 .

In addition, various other programmes such as quiz competition, recitation was also organised for the local students.

The students were encouraged with prizes.

The event was attended by Jafur Ahmed, teacher at Ahmedabad Primary School as a chief guest while Pradhan of Sonapur GP Asma Begum as a functional president and Y Yadav, Headmaster of Ahmedabad Primary School shared the dais as a guest of honour.
