Imphal, May 23 2014 :
Calls for discarding parochialism based on ethnicity and exhortations for forging healthy relationships amongst the indigenous communities settled in Manipur marked the 10th foundation day celebration of United Mongoloid Imphal India held today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound.
As one of the presidium members of the celebration, Kuki chiefs' Association Manipur president Haokhai Lupheng emphasising on promoting peaceful environment and cohesion among the indigenous people of Manipur also stated that efforts should be made to bring the NE people closer to one another.
if the Nagas continue to advocate separate entity by severing ancestral ties with the other indigenous people of Manipur, the Kuki people sustain campaign for separate homeland or the Meiteis remain aloof from the hill people there will be no positive development in the State, Haokhai opined.
According to United Mongoloid secretary H Deven the organisation was formed in 2004 with the stated objective of protecting interest of the Mongoloid people scattered in the North Eastern region.
Along with promoting their respective culture and traditions the indigenous communities of the region should be equally concerned with bringing about unity among the Mongoloid people in the North Eastern States, said the secretary who also informed that efforts are on to set up branch offices of United Mongoloid throughout the region.
Among others, former Minister RV Mingthing, FREINDS president Sapamcha Jadumani, AMUCO president Dr Y Mani, UCM president Y Nabachandra, United Mongoloid president Lanbon Kabui and Zeliangrong Union advisor R Chandra were also present at the occasion.
