Imphal, July 15 2015 :
Asserting that the present State Govt has failed on many fronts, the Manipur Democratic People's Front (MDPF) has proposed the imposition of President's Rule in Manipur.
Conveying that the MDPF is ready to put up the proposal for imposition of PR in the State to the Union Govt if people of the State agree to the proposal, it said concerned individuals may respond to the proposal by sending SMS 'yes' to 9436038198 .
In a statement, president of MDPF and co-convener of NRPF, Dr G Tonsana Sharma said that the front in its meeting at its Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai office felt that the present State Govt is losing popularity due to many reasons.
As such, PR be imposed in the State and the Assembly be dissolved and a fresh mandate be taken by conducting a general election.
Assembly elections of Assam and Nagaland are due sometime in early 2016 and the ECI may facilitate Manipur too to join the fray.
The Front said that present State Govt is 'anti-people,' 'tyrannical,' inefficient, failing to deliver good governance and failing to protect the territorial boundary of the State.
The Govt has also failed to improve the standard of education as well as bandh/blockade, it said.
