Imphal, July 15 2015 :
Janata Dal (United) Manipur appreciated all the members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly for withdrawing the controversial The Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill 2015 which had failed to find favour from the public.
Party general secretary Lian Gangte also applauded the Manipur Government for finally knowing the sentiments of the public and for responding well to their demands by calling a special session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Speaking exclusively to this agency at its office at Babupara, Lian Gangte said, "The all-political party committee on ILP had submitted recommendations to the Government before.
It was unfortunate that the Government did take public opinion during the passing of the Bill.
Our party earlier also has opined that the Bill will be controversial and should be amended" .
Showing displeasure, JCILPS started agitating demanding scrapping of the anti-indigenous people Bill and to frame a new one.
What is unfortunate was the death of Sapam Robinhood and injuring many other protesters during this widespread agitation, he said.
Gangte added, "Better late than never that the Manipur government finally came to its senses and withdrawn the Bill.
But taking three-months time to get ready with another Bill is too long, and it should be one month only at the maximum" .
